My friends clownfish already changed sex and you can easy tell which is the female and which is the male. When should they start laying eggs? She wants me to help her raise them and take care of them. Also are they ocellaris or percula? Its always hard for me to tell the difference. Here is a pic of them in their 55 gal tank, there is a rock where they are now but the urchin is still there should i move it?

Ocellaris and typically females need to be 2 - 2 1/2 yrs old and males can be ready as early as 6 months old

Is there anyway i can tell the age by size? The owners of the fish dont know

How big are they, they look pretty young in the picture and about 2"

Ill check tommorow. Last time i went the female was about 2 inch maybe a little smaller the male a little over in inch give or take some

That's about what I thought. They are pretty young. His size is controlled by her so we will go off her size I would say between 8 months and 1 yr
