Breeding different Varieties of Clownfish

Hi Everyone, I'm starting over again to breed clownfish. Do all varieties of clownfish need the same breeding system set up, as ocellaris? What sort of differences can I expect with the differ? I will also have a set up for Maroon clown fish

What is your current ocellaris setup? Generally the set ups are the same but larger species may require larger tanks.

My opinion: I would look into breeding more desirable/less common species. For what it's worth, the store I work at has had some CB cinnamon and maroon clowns for longer than I can remember. The cinnamons made it through a store move with us, so it's been at least 8 months. The bigger, more aggressive species aren't as popular as they used to be, in my opinion.

If you're just doing it for fun then by all means. Ocellaris are obviously always going to be in demand, but getting people to take the maroon babies off your hands might be tricky.

As far as breeding set up, I can't see why different species would be that drastically different in set up, other than size like previously mentioned.

@Frank SM Well, I lost my entire tank and breeding Ocellaris in a black out a month ago. So now i'm starting from scratch. I will have one bonded pair in my display tank, then I will have a tank set up with with a divider for the second pair of Ocellaris, and a bonded pair of maroons. I'm not sure if they are laying eggs yet, so it could be a wait until I have any sort of babies. But I need to start somewhere.
@steve That's a good point about the Maroon's and how much demand there could be for them, I hadn't thought about that. So if they need more space I might be better off putting them in their own tank, or my display tank.

My spawning maroons were in a 40 gal breeder. The fry were very difficult to raise compared to clarkii. You could go for something rare, like Oman's. They have started to appear on the market but still rare and quite expensive. I was offered a pair but I'm waiting for something else. If successful, you could make your investment back relatively quickly. Ocellaris are a good starting point since they can spawn in small tanks and there will always be a market for them. @steve is right about the market. I saturated my local market with clarkii. Pretty soon I was sitting on a hundred juveniles and nowhere to place them.
