Alright so I am starting to set up my small breeding system. It will be similar to others in the sense that it will be a 3 rack system (looks very similar to a book shelf). It will be 3-10g and 2-20g, my question is by me not having any coral or anything like that in it can i use the HOB type filtration for these small tanks with the filter pads and bio wheels? They are not drilled tanks so it would be a rather large hassle to drill and plumb everything down to a sump AND I would rather have them separate in the event a pair gets sick and this way they wont wipe all of my other pairs out.

Does this sound like it would work?

Yes your set up will work and its a good idea to keep the clownfish serparate especially if you got them from diferent places, just to be safe. You will have to do more water changes and more maintenance if you do it this way, but it will work. I have done it the same way in the past when I got fish from other reefers and wanted to keep them separate for a few months to monitor them. Even a few of them startem breeding in the 10g tanks with just a sponge filter and heater.
In the long run, I would personally drill a few tanks and plumb them all together into one system because you will save time on maintenance, have a larger water volume to keep more stable parameters, use less electricity with fewer heaters/pumps/HOB filters. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!!

Yea I have one 20g that is drilled so i will put a divider in that one and set it up as one with a sump. By this being a new set up and small scale I wanted everything to get situated first. Thanks for the help!
