Breeding Tank vs Buying Feeder Fish

I've got a fuzzy dwarf lion, a snowflake eel, and a valentini puffer in my tank. They thrive on mollies and ghost shrimp. I typically just buy them weekly at the local Petco.

My question:

I've got a 20L tank just sitting around.

Would it be cheaper/easier just to set that up and stock it with ghosties and mollies and let them breed? Or just keep buying fresh each week?

Unless you are willing to put in the time and money, you are better off buying the food and spending your free time watching your fi#h.
