BrentB's Red Sea Reefer 250 Build

@Brent Behringer looks like you went with the metric to standard conversion unions for the downpipes instead of the Broadfield method. That’s what I’m planning to do and what do you think of it?
Yep. Had the other version with the screw in adapters installed and ready to plumbed to my sump and never could seem to get them tightened down enough against the washers. So put the breaks on and ordered the metric to standard and used about 5 wraps of the pink tape. Seems pretty tight/secure and sealed.

@Brent Behringer tape? So you didn't glue with PVC cement?

So here’s an update. Was able to get some good traction on plumbing side and get a lot accomplished this weekend. UV mounted on back of tank and fully plumbed. Completed the manifold on side and back. Plumbed in the Maxx mini reactor and utility hose water changer on the left side to the manifold. UV is connected to the back manifold on the far right. Also got the ATS stand built and in place. As well as the bypass added circulation line (middle valve) on back manifold. Just down to installing the ATS then will do a full wet test of the complete tank, sump and plumbing. Probably next weekend.

@Brent Behringer hey Brent. What is that thing? The pipe that's half painted red and the photo of it is right next to the photo of the paint can?

That’s one of the pvc adapters with a hose barb that’s taped up for painting. The long white pvc is just a plug so I don’t get paint inside the glue area of the fitting

@Brent Behringer so with that fitting, one end is barb and one end is slip?

@Brent Behringer Wow that's one hot looking job!! Looks like you have lots of room for growth. Any plans for upgrades?
Nope just plans to get my rock work done and the tank on its way to cycling. I still have to build my RODI station. Probably a couple weeks out as I’ll be heading out of town this weekend for a week of fishing with my brother.

@Brent Behringer ok thanks for that tip. I thought everyone doing the conversion unions were glueing.
@Brent Behringer now that I think of it wouldn’t be better to glue in the metric side as well? Although it is a tight fit. How much tape did you use and how sure are you that it won’t leak or come off?

I used the pink tape about 5 times around. I peak tested the whole system a couple weeks back and there were no leaks. I let it run for 16 hours

nope. Need to build my outdoor RODI station. I have the cabinet and RODI unit, just need to install/hook up. Been super busy with work etc.
