Alright so I am a little stumped... I make my Rodi water and it tests as coming out as 0 on both my tds monitor as well as the inline tds monitor on my Rodi.. so I do not question if it is actually 0. I was wondering if being in an open bucket will add tds? Ovbiously stuff is in the air and I assume is falling in the water over time so a lid is recommended but was also wondering if it applies regarding salt residue.. for example if I make water in a 5 gallon bucket and then mix salt in it. Rinse the bucket and then make a new batch of water with 0tds would my new water be affected? I’m not worried about the tds just trying to figure it all out as sometimes I test my water halfway through making it and it is no longer 0 tds but it still comes out as 0tds from the Rodi..

Would say that depends how well you washed and rinsed your budget. Even a little speck of your old dried new salt water can effect 0 TDS.
Would leaving an uncovered 5 gallon bucket over a course or an hour cause tds? Probably considering I’m not in a 0 tds laboratory setting?

Things do dissolve from the air into standing water, thats how water gets "stale" when left out too long (that and dissolved gases from the air). I'd imagine that it COULD change the TDS of your RO water. What TDS reading are you getting after letting it sit? If its pretty low, I wouldn't worry about it much personally.

yes it will pick up stuff from the air if its left open over time. It will also pick up CO2 which will convert into carbonic acid and the pH will drop. It will also deposit dust/ salts into the bucket. On our demin tanks at work, I design/ startup power plants, we use pH as one of the main to monitor the demin storage tanks for boiler use during commissioning when it isn't used/ turned over as frequently. The other main parameter we monitor is conductivity, really resistivity, to determine how much dissolved matter is getting into the water.

I just cover the bucket so I don’t have to worry. For RODI, at least for top off, having a small bit of saltwater mix in it is not going to be an issue. But salt mix is easily removed by simple rinsing a few times.

Yes
Water without ions will want ions. It will suck them up like a vacuum cleaner.
