What is this? First there was 1. Now I have 3 side by side. My photos kind of suck, but they are about as bug as a crayon tip. what are they?:nerd:

yeah i know and to think i work at a photography studio. All i had was a stupid wide angle lens. but the tanks at my dads. next time im out there i will get another pic. I did notice half a starfish roaming around in my tank last time i was there too.

It almost looks like a Mojano.. Google it & compare the pics.. If they are Mojano's, remove them ASAP..

dude i think you might be right. i read in a magazine that they can come in with star polyps, and star polyps are on that rock. They also come in many colors, and they look like they have a small stalk smaller than that of a zoa.

kalkwasser paste (keep off the corals), or scrape them off, they do not multiply like aiptasia (from being scraped off). Also you can use a small diameter hose to suck them off the rock (with a little persuasion).

LOL,
I am actually using my laptop right now, but I know what those little buggers look like and how quickly they multiply!!

i agree with sea munnkey, but also its pretty tought to mistake mojano for anything else so if you already looked up a pic of mojano and it matches then it probably is

Yeah i talked to a friend at a lfs. he said if there all conected then its most likely a coral, if they are disconected from each other then it is a anemone. So now i need to go back to my dads house and check it out. i will get photos and post them here so this forum could maybe help some one.

Thanks again you guys. Reef2reef has the most helpful people!

If they are questionable I would chuck em, Not worth the risk in my opinion, Like Barney Fife said "nip it in the bud"

Its ok everybody! Its a ZOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i looked at them today (didnt have a camera) but there is about 6 clustered all 2gether and all share the same base skin. Bad news is i spotted a nudibranch in the tank. but other good news is i see some other kind of coral like skin growin on one of my live rocks.
