Hello! I am new to this and just ordered my first tank setup. IM 14 Peninsula. I will be using live rock and live sand, and then adding Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter7 during set up. My question is, how fast can I put a clown in after adding it? I don’t want the fish to die or take gambles, so I can be patient. I just couldn’t find an exact timeframe online for this tank size. Thanks!

Hi And welcome. I am also still pretty new to r2r but have found many knowledgeable and helpful people here.

i recently setup similar situation in a 29 gallon with 10 gallon sump In my home office. I used a 20 lb bag of live sand and 20 lbs of dry rock. I used both MB7 and Seachem Stability to go with the live sand in hoping to prime the bacterial community in my system. I added a pair of small clowns after a week of daily dosing and kept testing for cycle with no real noticeable spike in ammonia or nitrite. 2months in and I see 0.25 nitrates. Clowns had some signs of parasites (stringy white poo) but also could have been from stress? Both however are doing well now.

so I am not sure what rock you have for bacterial to colonize and how fast just MB7 could grow to support not over stressing you clown(s) but above has been my experience.

bacter 7 is very good stuff !! Shake it WELL and refridgerate after use (to preserve the cultures)
