brightwell brick caused skimmer to go crazy

I just set up a new tank (2oo gallon display, 65 gallon sump) and I am nearing the end of the cycle so I decided to add a brightwell no3 brick. I seeded it overnight in the microbactor as instructed and placed it my sump this morning. Since I put it in my sump has been foaming like crazy, I turned the skimmer off but its still foaming by the overflow return by my filter socks. Has anyone had this problem? My skimmer is still off I figured I would give it until morning to settle out (24 hours), I just dont want to keep my skimmer off for that long... any suggestions or experience with this?

Yes I had the same problem when I put a 1" block into my rescue tank and when I set up the replacement 90 gallon and added a new block to it. It will subside after a day or so, at least mine did.

Did you rinse it thoroughly?

I rinsed it in rodi then seeded it overnight in a bucket of tank water with the microbactor

More than I did

I just rinsed it and put it in my sump to seed it in my rescue tank. The other went into the 90 when it was just rinsed and seeded in the sump. I added the other one to the sump after I transferred everyone out of the rescue tank. You can see why in my build thread if your interested on what happened.

ill check It out ... I guess by following the directions I over seeded it and caused a bacterial bloom.... hope it doesnt disrupt the cycle

I think MB7 was causing the issue. I didn’t seed it just put it in my sump and didn’t notice anything regarding skimmer performance.
