Brightwell NeoMarine question

Use good ole reliable reef crystals. Most widely used and consistent results in the industry.

Everyone tells me that Reef Crystals is terrible and actually has the Worst Quality Control out there.

Why do you say it is consistent.

Everyone I ever talk to says you never know what you will get with it.

Just got off the phone with the local supplier. They admitted to a problem straight away. What they did not tell me is how long they have known this. I will not be leaving this alone. I have wasted time and a couple days RO production, annoyed my customers by having to post pone services and cost me money in lost work.

In our club everyone uses either reef crystals or kents. The fishbreeders and longtime reefers all use reef crystals and all the newer guys use kents. Reefcrystals has been around longer than most brands and is consistent. The biggest problem is that people dont shake the bag up or bucket and that can give inconsistent results

Just had a call back from the Aussie supplier. They claim to have just found out on Friday that something was up.Still annoyed they didn't call me since I recieved my order on Friday.

Anyway, they said to dump it. So now I have 900 gallons worth of useless salt.

Can someone please post the batch number for the bad salt? I've been using BW NeoMarine for almost 3 years. It would hurt a lot for it to crash the reefs it built!

I gave mine to a guy that had a fish only system and he had no issues. But the bad batch is not suitable for a reef. Good luck.

I am confused how do you know if it is not bad for Fish Only?

I feel that if it is not good for one type of aquarium them it is not good for any.

I mean who knows what is in it.

If there saying it has high magnesium lvls. Well that can be very detrimental to corals especially sps. Not fish so much

I also heard of a Guy who said he did a water change recently with Neo-Marine and his Tank crashed and everything died.

He called Brightwell and they admitted that there was a problem and that they hired a New Chemist Recently.

So it sounds like they Blamed it on the Chemist.

He got a bunch of free Salt.

Most of the time you can actually gey reinbursed for your livestock as well. Kents had that bad batch of carbon amd they reinbursed all cutomera that had livestock loss i myself recieved a check for 600 dollars.

You all should be contacting the company and demanding reinbursement for any lossed corals. Also spread the word on this and other forums about the problem this will help get the issue out into the open and they will be forced to reinburse people or have there reputation forever damaged and in iur ho by that could ruin them forever

Are you sure of this?

I would think that they would go out of business with the amount of money that people invest in their Reefs.

Was the Check for 600.00 the Full Value of what you lost or was that all they were willing to pay back.

I mean if someone had 50,000 in live stock that died would they send them a check for 50,000 or would they just send a check for 600?

They have insurance for there buisness just like you or i do. If there buisness causes a person peraonal property damage or there product rather they can then be held liable. I my case i provided pictures of dead corals and recieptd from my lfs. I was paid in full for my losses. It wouks suck to have to sue a company for this however i believe the more vocal the community is the better the results you may get. Like i said spread the word everywhere and get friends and other reefers to complain about the treatment your getting. I bad reputatiin in a hobby like ours woukd be the end of there company anyway there better off paying foe the losses

Also my problem was unrelated to this one and i caught it quickly so the loss was noy huge but while searching anout the problem i spoke with several other reefers that were refunded thousands. It also sets a prescedent in the industry that should be followed imho
