I have been using brightwell reef code a&b in the liquid form for quite a while so I decided to save money and buy the powder this time.

Help??

I measured both my water and the powders by weight. Neither will dissolve no matter how much I shake it (and the calcium got so hot I couldn't hold the bottle). What am I doing wrong?

Reef code A calcium says 70g per 8 fl Oz

Reef code B buffer says 60g per 8 fl oz....

I use the Nyos powder supplements, and the calcium gets incredibly hot for me as well - so I think that's the chemical reaction taking place. Whenever I have difficulty getting either to dissolve it's because I added too much powder to liquid. You may want to try mixing in a larger container prior (makes it a bit easier).

Looks like you are using too much based on confusing directions from Brightwell. Drop back to the 20 g.

Basic Instructions and Guidelines: Dissolve 20 grams per 8-fl. oz. of purified water in a clean mixing container and stir to dissolve; dose the resultant solution to the aquarium system as required to maintain the alkalinity within a range of 7 - 12 dKH. Up to 60 g per 8-fl. oz. of purified water may be mixed at once.

I think you may be right, the instructions were definitely confusing, thanks!
