I am just staring to read up on some of the different zeo methods and I am staring to lean towards Brightwells. Can anyone share their experience with Brightwells? What is your schedule? Also, is a filter/reactor necessary for dosing or can it be accomplished by manually?

I am looking to get better color and growth from my SPS, LPS and Zoas. Thanks.

I am about to start it, Kevin. My additives will be in tomorrow. I can give you my detailed regimen that I have worked up if you want it. My additives that I chose are:
MicroBacter 7
BioFuel
CoralAmino
VitaMarin-C
VitaMarin-M
PhytoChrom
ZooPlanktos-M

I will be using the Brightwell NeoZeo zeoliths as well. I liked how the zeoliths worked in the KZ ZeoVIT method so I will continue that practice but using Brightwell's stones as opposed to KZ's (half the price).

As a whole these systems are "bacterial driven", sometimes referred to as "probiotic systems". Some of them utilize zeolite medias, which can be housed in a reactor, but don't need to be (a reactor is a more aggressive means of driving and keeping nutrients down). Although none of the systems MUST use the zeolite medias. These reactors do not do any of the dosing, they simply hold the zeolite stones which have to be "shaken" or "tumbled" to release a bacterial mulm that builds up, which is then skimmed out and/or eaten by coral. The dosing is done by hand (99% of the time).

Just to clarify, these systems really don't directly give you better color and growth, but instead drive down NO3 and PO4 to levels that allow coral to achieve better growth and color. Whichever route you choose, make sure to read, read, read on the methodology behind these systems, how and why they work.

Yes, please send me the detailed regimen. Are you going to dose it by hand daily or are you going to use some sort of filter/reactor for dosing?

Also, Did LARC forget to pay the hosting fees? :snicker:

I did NeoZeo for about a year.Started the tank with it right off the bat.I did see some amazing results but I got sick of dosing and having to worry about if I need this or that supplement.the zeoliths does not discriminate on what it absorbs whether it be phosphates, potassium or other trace elements.although I had incredible colors it seemed like my corals weren't looking as healthy as they could be.also u will find that you will have to figure out what works for your tank by the look of things. In the beginning I went by the book but had to cut back on the amount of dosings until I found a balance.just my. 02

Kevin, give me a call when you can to discuss. I think you may be a bit confused about that the reactor actually does for the system.

As far as LARC goes, Ian said this morning what Wiltz was working on it. We shall see...

I run the BW NeoZeo system. I have had good results. I did find that my corals faded a bit but I was able to increase my feeding which darkened the colors. I have been very happy with the system and my super fat fish like it too! Read, Read, Read!!!!! Prior to attempting any of these systems I too recommend that you do plenty of research and have a full understanding of how and why the system works.
