Brine Shrimp Grow Out Tank

Hi

Any one successfully grow brine shrimps to adults where they give live birth?

What do you use to keep the water clean and do you just feed with spirulina powder?

This is for indoors not outdoors. I have seen the video for outdoor grow out tank.

Bucket, saltwater, some air bubbles, a lid and some live phytoplankton. Add not to many newly hatched artemia and wait for a couple of weeks. Maybe refill some live phytoplankton when the water starting to get clear.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. I think it's easy to start with too many newly hatched artemia, making the density too high when they start to grow.
If you don't have a lid, you need to check the salinity which will raise in that case.

Yes. To avoid evaporation(and I like to attach the air tube through the lid). But if you keep an eye on the salinity and fill up with some fresh water now and then it's fine. And artemia are quite hardy, they tolerate a bit higher salinity, so no need to be spot on.
You can use a glass jar, an aquarium or a bucket. The artemia is not that picky

Do a search for culturing Nannochloropsis. It's a good algae to culture and to feed artemia(and rotifers if you want as well). IMO is easier feeding live algae. The water doesn't get bad in the artemia culture as fast as if you feed dry food or algae concentrate.

I've been growing them for a few months on my porch outside. I know you want to do them inside so maybe add a cheap heater to your water. I have mine in a 20 gallon long aquarium with 15 gallons of plankton water in it. I grow it myself. Once they hatch just toss them in with an airline to bubble the water. After a few days they eat all the plankton then I just add spirulina powder every day mixed with rodi water. After a couple of weeks you will notice the females swimming with egg sacks and the males hanging on them. About a week after that you will notice most of the adults are gone. They die off once they lay the eggs. A couple of days after that there will be thousands of babies in there. That's normally when I filter out, using a reusable coffee filter, 5 gallons of the little ones and what's left of the adults into new plankton water. I'll take the rest and dump the tank, clean it and let the new crop grow.
If you save all the brine it becomes very difficult to keep them fed. You will be amazed at how green your plankton water is when you start and how clear it gets in a matter of days.

If you're concerned about keeping the water clean, you can use an air powered filter sponge but only after the brine has had a chance to grow up a little. If they are really small they can't swim away and get stuck to it. I use one on mine but have to pull it out to clean it every other day.
