Brine Shrimp Hatchery

Like I said earlier, I only do a 5 gallon water change every 2 weeks (I have a 29 gallon tank) so I would not have a ton of water to raise BBS. I would only have enough water to hatch about 1 or 2 batches a week. I also don't make my own water. I get it from my LFS (which isn't local. It is over an hour away) I am kinda in a pickle :p.
The way I see it you have three options:
A.) Buy extra tank water
B.) Save as much water change water as possible
C.) Start making your own water

So dont over think it. Paul B has a little contraption he puts into his tank with eggs in it while he's on vacation. They hatch and the fish eat.
Have you met Paul B yet?

@Paul B Hey can you help a good kid out? do you have a pic or vid or a link of your Vacation brine shrimp feeder Sir?

I would love to see this!!!

Could I keep the brine shrimp hatchery in my sump (not completely in the water but sitting in it) to keep the temperature high (I keep my house cold ;)). I also have a light in my fuge. I could use Legos to build a stand for the hatchery :)

A friend of mine had good luck with a hatchery like this: http://www.amazon.com/KollerCraft-Feeder-Shrimp-Hatchery-Aquariums/dp/B002DVREP8/

It sits inside the tank, and the shrimp swim out into the tank as they hatch. He used decapsulated eggs so there was no worries about what to do with the empty shells.
I was thinking about doing something like this but I want to directly feed them to the mandarin I am getting rather than the whole tank. This is still a good idea if I wanted the other fish in the tank to get a quick snack :)
Thanks for sharing!!!

Okay. I've been doing bbs for some time. And I grow them to adult. While growing them I feed yeast and phyto and even egg yolks. It's a messy process with that hatchery. My suggestion is hi to btineshrimpdirect..com and buy good eggs and this hatchery. It's so easy and transfer is easy without worrying about transferring shells.

Oh. Btw. Use selcon in a small dish with a little air ( a couple bubble ever few seconds) to enrich prior to feeding.

I use the clear plastic containers that hang on the side of tank.( my lfs uses and sells them. what most pet stores use to hold a fish before they pour it into a bag). I hang it on the inside of my sump so the CFL on my fuge hits it. Keeps it warm and well lit. Takes bout 24 hours for them to hatch depending on temp. I keep a air stone and small air pump that I only use for bbs hatching. I got on eBay and found a brine shrimp net that has a 2 part screen. Ones sapose to catch the eggs ect and the other catches the bbs. Since I feed to mostly newly hatched angle fish I rinse them off with freshwater then start feeding. They'll live in freshwater for 2-5 hours.

I always hatch in a 2 liter bottle type hatchery. Melves reef has a good tutorial and that's how I do it. I have two so one bottle is ready every other day. This I am able to have babies every day with two going. I can never seem to raise them to adulthood and keep them alive. Anyone have any tips for long term success thanks.
