Hello just right off the bat want to say yes - I am aware of CITES
No this is not a skip go and go directly to jail question.

I have read CITES and there is an exemption for aquacultured items as well as a clause for items for personal use (ie going into a personal aquarium not for view to the public or intended for business) etc

has anyone actually gone through process ?

I’m talking US bought to Canada

I would call the border services to be sure.

oh I didn’t mean for right now - just in general
I used to work for a Biotech company and had to deal with CITES. You will need to contact US Fish and Wildlife and the Canadian Fish and Wildlife. You will get the answers from them.

Contact the local office, if you google US Fish and Wildlife Services contact number, you should be able to find it. I do know that if you need a CITES Cert, it has to come from both sides and is not cheap.
