Bringing down salinity

I noticed today my salinity was 1.029 really high on 10 gallon reef tank. What can I do. Any suggestions. I know by adding water . How little should I add?

I'm no pro, but have a similar setup and had this happen before too (because I was adding saltwater to make up for evaporation)..
I would just start with like a gallon (or less if you are worried) and check it in a few hours. Still high try maybe a 1/2 gallon.

It has corals . And inverts . Snails . I tested multiple times. It’s accurate.

How do the animals look? Is anything looking stressed? Go slow bringing it down. I would start with 1/4 to 1/2 a gallon a day of R/O water.

All corals look fine . Inverts seem brothered

I recently had the same issue on my 75gal tank. I was at 1.029. I would take out 5 gallons of water and replace it with 5 gallons of RO water. It would drop me by .001 each time.

Did you calibrate it to make sure it is accurate? I checked mine the other day and it was off by .004, though I hadn't checked it in a very long time.

That is really odd. Did you replace evaporation with saltwater by accident? This is why nano's are hard to do!

yes I did . I mix new saltwater today. That water read at 1.026 . When I test water from tank it reads 1.028 now since I add Rodi water

You need to calibrate against a known solution. There are several on the market. If you don't have that on hand you can calibrate off of RODI at 1.000.

I have the solution. Didn’t need to calibrate. Are my inverts going to die ?

Take it slow, fast swings in salinity are worse than being a little over.
Remove 1/4 gallon from tank and top off with RO/DI.
Check salinity again tomorrow... repeat if necessary

Unlikely, just go slow lowering it
