bristle worm chopped off

so I was attempting to catch a bristle in a rock and the tweezer did more damage than good. ended up chopping the head or tail (about 1/5 of the worm) before it got away. Do these things die or would it heal? It actually happened twice to 2 different worms. ;Clown
