After about a year I finally found a bristle worm in my tank. I hear a lot about them being good for tanks and other people say to take them out. I don’t mind having him in there. But he is now bigger than my smallest fish. Will they eat fish?

Bristle worms won't eat fish. I actually bought some for my tank. They are good detrivours.

Bristle worms freaked me out the first time I saw them. Then I learned how they reside in the sand bed and under rocks. As they move about the tank through the sand, they churn the substrate, which is a good thing.

I think it has something to do with releasing pockets of harmful gases trapped in the substrate. I'm not sure... can someone help me out here?

Thanks.

I can't touch anything that has them in it. Like filter floss or pre filter foam. Even rearranging live rock, without using gloves. My fingers get little bumps and they itch and burn.takes about 2 weeks for them to heal up.

If ya want to see your B worms, get a flashlight and scan your rocks at night.
