Hey! So it’s been a minute since I’ve been in here and my tank is basically a disaster... also I didn’t really know where to put this thread sorry I just kinda guessed... I’ve had no money and quickly ran out of stuff I needed and my parents wouldn’t help me with the tank but I recently turned 16 and got a job ASAP to get money to get supplies for the tank and get the tank back to what it used to be. So I ran out of test kits recently so I’m not sure the water parameters which is a little scary but before I ran out of those my fish and inverts were dying I had a yellow tang trigger clownfish peppermint shrimp cleaner shrimp crabs and snails. All that’s left now is the trigger clownfish and a snail (and a CRAP TON of bristle worms). I think my yellow tang may have tried to eat one and that’s why it died not quite sure. But there has to be at least 100 bristle worms in this tank right now it’s insane but how do I get rid of these things?!?! Half the lights went out about a month ago and I’m not sure if the lights blew or if the thing that holds the lights (sorry lol can’t find the word for it right now) broke. I moved some of the working lights to the other fixture to see if that could solve the problem for a little bit but it wouldn’t turn on. The tank is an Oceanic 110 so where could I even get a new fixture that matches the other one for this tank? I need to buy new bulbs for them also even the ones that work are too old... I also have an algae problem right now so what can I do to fix that? On the return jet there is like green hair algae and on the sand and walls there is a green slime looking thing and some red looking slime it’s pretty gross... what can I do to fix this? Should I just get some more snails and crabs and other CUC? I had an urchin but he recently died too I have no idea why on that either. I want to add more fish to this tank eventually but it’s going to be a while before I get to do that cuz rn its a MESS. As soon as I get my first paycheck I’m going to try to get lights, stuff to clean tank, water testers, and whatever else y’all think I should get... at some point I need to buy a protein skimmer but I’m not sure which one to get and that’s not a priority right now I need to fix all this other mess first... any suggestions on what to do?? Also I’m sorry if that made no since I’m trying to type fast. Thank you!!!

Find a way to check your salinity & start doing water changes. I wouldn't worry about lights or anything else until you get what you have healthy. You don't need great lights to do that.
Testing will be needed - but honestly from the sound of it - your parameters are out of whack far enough that you really need to do several large scale water changes.
Like 30% - 50% at a time. Do one every other day for at least 4 times. Will probably require more but this will be your starting point.

Oh - and don't worry about the bristle worms - they will take care of themselves.
Right not they are doing you a favor by eating waste. Your tank would be in worse shape if not for them. Get your tank cleaned up and the population will dwindle on it's own. You can use that as a gauge to indicate your tank returning to a healthy state.

i agree with everything @Wilkerson.reed said. Start with foundation water quality. After that than you can work your way up to rest. Water is the most important right now.
