What you can do is take a empty water bottle and either take the cap off or make some small X cuts on the sides and bend the plastic in just a little to make an opening like a crab trap.
Place a piece of shrimp or fish in the bottle then sink it down into the tank on the sand bed.
Using fishing string around the neck helps remove the bottle more quickly.
The fire worn will smell the food and find an opening to get inside the bottle.
Bristle worm and in your case fire worm trap !

Hope this helps
Good luck and happy reefing

Thanks for the tip Mike. I had considered making a trap, but the worm never comes all the way out of the rock. It is large enough that only a few inches comes out and looks for food, then quickly retreats back in the rock if it senses ANYTHING.

May give it a try tonight though. Nothing to loose :0)

I agree with Mike, a water bottle with slits in the side will definitely work. Be sure to use bait that is very pungent. Partially crushed silversides or even freeze dried krill gets them out of their homes.
You'll be surprised to see how many you actually have.

While bristle worms are relatively harmless, (and beneficial) if it's eating your clowns eggs, it has to go.

Pretty much a sure thing for you to get them out your tank

Keep us updated on how this works out for you and how many you remove.
