I was able to net these off my sand bed tonight. I believe they are bristle worms and possibly beneficial. Should I put them back in or not?

It seems so wrong to keep those ugly things especially when I already pulled them out lol. Is there any potential problems with them? Is there anything that eats them if they become a problem?

Some people like them and some don’t. I’m happy to keep them but my hubby freaks right out when he sees them and wants to burn down the house. I think six lines eat them. I’ve seen a coral banded shrimp rip them from rocks.

They are an awesome addition to your clean up crew.
I take the opportunity to acquire them from the LFS whenever possible.
The look on the teenagers faces is often priceless.

They *can* get big. Up to 4" supposedly.
Never saw one larger than 1.5" in our tank or at any other location in the past 7 years. And I *hunt* for these guys.

Our copperband butterfly searches them out and eats the tiniest ones. CB is still only 2" long.
We have lots of porous live rock so there or lots of places for them to hide and grow.

If you ever get tired of them you can stick a piece of shrimp in a knotted up section of pantyhose overnight.
The shrimp will draw them out and the bristles get stuck in the pantyhose and trap them.
Use tongs to remove the pantyhose. The bristles are irritating like the finest spines on a potted cactus.
Nothing tragic but really annoying.

Lol, If you decide you don't want them I would be happy to take them.
