Hi Guys,

I bought a new hammer coral about two weeks ago and today I noticed a possible hitchhiker on the back. I dipped the coral in Coral RX Pro and Seachem Reef Dip when I got them.
It seems to protrude and then goes back in if one of my hermits passes near.
I’ve tried to take some pictures but can’t seem to get a decent one.

Any ideas?

Can you circle the area of concern in your pic? The only thing I’m seeing is possible aiptasia tentacles at the lower left portion of the skeleton.
Yes it’s the bottom left

Unfortunately that’s an aiptasia anemone. Everyone has their preference for eliminating these guys, I’ve always had luck with aiptasia x

It looks like the tentacles of an aiptasia.
I hear these are pests and can multiply pretty rapidly, how would you go about removing the aiptasia?

Thanks I’ll take a look at aiptasia x. I also read that covering them with superglue works?

Never tried super glue myself. Good luck with whatever route you choose!

Tbh they are a pain
Ill have a month with none they 6 will pop up
X makes a bigger issue I find as if you miss a bit if it. It grows some where else and chance are you'll miss a few spots causing like 4 to pop up
I use peppermint shrimp
Its a hit and miss. She eats them when she hungry. So I try to not feed her
Nudis work the best but im patient and I know the shrimp will get them
Super glue is good but same issue as the x
They can squeeze through anything
So make sure you cover it good and hope it doesn't make an unsightly mess of your rocks

And I use a 30ml syringe filled with boiling water. Mash the tip down on top of the aiptasia, squirt it with 15-20ml of boiling water, and then draw back on the syringe to suck the now boiled alive little bugger back into the syringe.
