Bristle worms

i have noticed that I have quite a few bristle worms and several of them are getting pretty big. So far they haven’t been a problem but I’m worried about what will happen when I get a mandarin. Is there a fish or crustaceans that will prey on the bristle worms. I know I can build a trap and remove them but I have a problem killing critters that aren’t harmful.

arrow crabs eat them I've heard. Luckily I don't have bristle worms to test it

I’ll do some research. Gotta make sure they are ok with my fish and a mandarin which I plan on getting in a few months.

Well the Arrow Vrab is out of the questions. They kill other crustaceans and slow moving fish. A mandarin is a slow, rock dwelling fish and I’m aftaid he would be lunch for an arrow crab. Lol. I’ll do more research.

Check this out and try it? They also make bristle worm traps you might be able to get at the LFS. But i bet this would be much cheaper. I have a ton as well. But they are small and make fantastic scavengers! Havnt touched my fish yet, but pretty tiny still. I will be doing this is a few months though.

Here are just a few that come out every time I turn off the filter to feed they LOVE the shrimp and crab pellets that I drop in. The long one continued coming out of his rock after I took this picture. Kinda creepy but they do keep my sand bed clean lol

If you only have a few, pick the big guys off with tweezers, also 6 line wrasse do eat bristle worms. I've also made very similar traps to the below link, works great, just bait with mysis and wait a few hours when the lights are going down, you can catch a bunch at a time, they climb in and cant find their way out.
