Anybody out there with the bristletooth tang family (chevron, kole, two spot, whitetail, etc), what are y'all feeding? My newly acquired whitetail is not taking to enriched brine or blood worms yet. Just wanted to see what everyone else is feeding. Thanks

I have a Tomini. It is not picky at all. It loves everything from Nori to flakes and garlic enhanced mysis.

Congrats on acquiring a whitetail Saltgator! I've got a white tail myself and I gotta say it's one of my all time favorite tangs. I would suggest to try a variety of foods.I also had an issue with mine eating as a juvenille but have no issues now. I always feed a variety of food to my fish wich includes frozen mysis, flakes and pellets. I also provide seaweed every other day and fresh brine a few times a week. I noticed at first the flakes were all it would eat. So I would just add a few more flakes to my feeding routine and eventually he started to eat everything. Now he's got a lot of his color and be is totally healthy. Would love to see a pic of your whitetail and good luck! Here's my guy when I first got him and know. I've had him about 3 months ago.

Wow Lou, he's changed a lot in just 3 months!

I have a 2 spot bristle tooth and a white tail (see my thread on this forum). The both eat mysis, Larry's Reef Frenzy and Nori with gusto. At first they both would take mysis in but then spit it out. After a few days they started eating it well.

Thanks guys. He tries the enriched brine but spits it out. My reef gets a full sheet of nori every other day. I might have to get with LRS for some food. Keep the pics and info coming. Beat pic I could get tonight.

My Tomini eats everything, also using New Era Marine Grazers

Try some LRS reef frenzy. My Striatus tang loves that. Along with pe mysis. Be sure to offer nori as well

Pretty common for them to be picky when first introduced. I have a Kole Tang that only ate Mysis for the first couple weeks. Gradually it started to eat other foods. I had it in QT for 12 weeks, and never once did it touch nori. As soon as I added it to my 125, it learned quite quickly it was food from the other fish eating it. Now, it eats absolutely everything I feed.

Give him a couple of days. My Kole tang would not eat anything for three days except algae on my rocks. He now eats basically all my frozen food but he still won't go after the algae sheets which I believe is due to the fact that he eats a lot of film algae.

+1 all my fish are pigs for that food. My tomini is a fatty. Would love to add a second for the 180 I have but scared about risking it lol.

I appreciate the info y'all. He is fatning up, so algae via rocks of walls is his appetite atm.

Mine is smashing rods vegi diet!
