Do you think the problem is caused by the bristleworms or Emerald Crab or something else?

I remember my puffer sleeping soundly over a rock with bristle worms crawling over him. Gross, but they never harmed him or anyone. Also Went from hundreds to none. I have a feeling the puffer took a revenge on them.

Or if you have an arrow crab they are good at thinning out the masses.

Yes I have live rock in the tank, all from my local fish store. I haven’t heard of a Bobbit Worm so I’ll definitely do some research on that.
Yeah, they are nasty! Hide in the sand and grab fish when they come by.

Any tips for finding out if there is one in my tank? Almost all the threads I’ve read say they had to take their tank apart to find it but I’m worried I will destroy my coral or fish completely if I do that... any suggestions?

At night use a red light to look at the sand and rocks very carefully to see if there is any disturbed spots or movement

I have a firefish who brushed or fought a bristleworm. Hard to see in the picture but his entire right side was covered in tiny bristle (head to tail). I think what happened was the bristle worm ended in the firefish cave due to a recently added pistol shrimp.

How old were your fish and did you have any new additions? Missing fish one by one can be a parasite, either internal or external. Bristle worms don't kill fish, only eat dead ones. Emerald crabs (yours looks like one) don't kill them either.
