When I started my 65gal tank a few years ago with a DSB, I introduced a few bristleworms because I'd read they were good for turning sand and consuming detritus and decaying matter. I have since removed the DSB but still believe in the usefulness of bristleworms.
However, the other night I spotted the guy in the attached picture and got a little freaked out. When I added them, they were tiny. Probably less than half an inch and very thin. This guy is at least 4 inches and pretty thick. I guess I am wondering if there is a point they should be removed or if should I just let it be. I literally hadn't seen any of them in years but I had read other accounts where people said they had grown to a foot long. Incidentally, they have definitely multiplied. I started a 20gal dropoff tank last year, seeded with rock from my 65. There are more bristleworms in there than I initially added to the 65, still pretty small. Appreciate your opinions.

Bristleworms can get pretty big. But as long as you don't overfeed their population should self control :)
