Brittle serpent star

Is my serpent brittle star dead. He was fine yesterday today find a shrimp eating one of his leg and his face it completely off ... He looks like this now

Thing is he's still moving... So that confused me.

It is... my daughter went to take it out its tentacles started moving around

If anything I'll have my husband take it out put in quarantine tank see if it comes back.

There's a chance. A whole new starfish can grow from a severed arm. I have never done this, but it might work. Sever a couple arms and put them in QT and see what happens? Maybe not, long shot I suppose.

He's a fighter. Didn't get him out til this morning. Crab and shrimp were attacking legs but Kept the other legs but they aren't moving that i see so may just keep the one. Have in a small tub right now cause just had a big scare with tank... The board started to give in on our stand needed all the extra tanks for fishies etc.

Update: So far 3 of the legs have been moving around now ..BUT Does anybody know anybody or know anything on growing them back. Like care wise. Id assume for sure just let them be really. It's a process but do I feed them or anything?

Oh we are... Thankfully we saved the original stand it came with and I rushed out quick enough grabbed the pump and hose, all the buckets tubs I could think of and we are in process of putting stuff back in slowly

The three 'live' legs may each grow a new starfish. Strange creatures. I'd just leave 'em somewhere safe and watch.
