I have thousands of baby stars in my 75 gallon. I remove about 15 every week when I clean the filter sock. This has been going on for over two months. Has anyone had this problem? Do they go away after a length of time. I don't mind them it's just that there is so many. You can see tentacles poking out everywhere. It's kind of cool to show people. It makes them notice all the other small life in the rocks like pods, feather dusters and worms.

Don't ask me their cycle, but I go through periods were my sock is filled with brittles and then I go through periods were I have none. i'm in a "none" phase right now. But they'll come back!

That is really cool. I have only seen a couple in my tank, wish I had more!!

I bought tank and live rock in really bad shape. I was told it was 6 years old. I've had it for 2 years and have never added any brittle stars. If I shipped any it would have to be close to Indianapolis and I guess if I added a big ball of cheato they might make it if weather stays is in the low 80s

The shrimp will eat their legs, but only enough to sustain them killing the starfish hurts their food supply. I would love some of them but im afraid my wrasse may eat them.

as for the Baby Brittles, I have thousands in my 180. they are just miniature versions of the big ones and are a GREAT cleanup crew. your mini eco system should keep them in check.

I took a tiny one out of my filter sock, drop it back in the DT and my mystery snack him LOL

Ive got about a gazillion as well. I like them, I think they are neat. I have a few that live in my left powerhead and one came out last night during feeding and was waving an arm so I gave it a piece of food. Sometimes they try and steal food from the corals. My population went down a bit after I was trying to use Flatworm exit, but they rebounded like crazy.
