Brittle star

Last night after lights out I looked in the tank and think I saw a Brittle star in my monty cap. He was super sensitive to the light. Can these guys enter a tank like bristle worms?

They are a good cuc to have, its nocturnal so you really shouldn't expect to see it woth the lights on.

Yes. They can come in on live rock. Or even on coral plugs or lps.

How big is it? I’m not aware of micro brittle stars causing any issues. I have a bunch of them and usually only see a leg poking out of the rock, seem to be pretty shy.

Not causing any issues to my knowledge. Was just curious where he came from and if it is common for them to appear in tanks.

Thats what I did last night when I noticed him. At first I thought it was a bristle worm then I looked up under the cap and saw him. From researching them they seem like a good creature to have in the reef.

Your probally had some on live rock or a coral you added and never noticed them until now.
