Brittle stars breaking

i just added a few decent sized brittle stars a couple days ago.
They've been cruising around the aquarium ok but they've been losing legs/bits of legs. There's probably half a dozen bits scattered around.

One of them did completely disintegrate during shipping. And I mean it was just fully shredded inside the bag when it arrived. A couple of the others list a leg or a piece of leg during shipping as well but seemed ok in the tank.

Is this normal? Could something be harrassing them or are they just prone to disintegrating.

Might do a water change and test everything and see if something is out of whack.
