Brittle Stars

Are there a variety of things it could be a sign of? I ask because Id like to become better informed on starfish, and may be seeing missing arms at work.
I know if they get stressed out they can loose arms. For example, about a year ago I dosed Vibrant ( before the whole contents were discovered). It did it’s job mind you, but immediately after that, I had two stars that started loosing legs and died shortly later. I’m not getting into the whole vibrant deal but I do believe it changed water chemistry or depleted their food source or something that caused them stress and the leg losses were the first signs.

Stress, imperfect water quality, predators, and infection! It’s NEVER a good sign. A healthy/happy star should not be losing it’s arms…this goes for wild stars too!

I’ll keep my eye out - Does the regrowing arm show a sign of him recovering?

I love it! I have a harlequin serpent and it is a model citizen also. Except for feeding time I almost never see it though. Mine is white with green.
Yours looks beautiful! Mines definitely a black and white banded Ophioderma appressum. Although the green bands on yours are stunning :)

I have black serpent star and it's name is creeps. Will come out begging for food. When it does it usually give it its own cube.

Doesn't hurt a thing. It's the green serpent that will see eat fish.
