It does look like just a bumped ray, especially common on the leading edge of pectoral fins. Did the tang stress out much holding it for that pic?

I think it is just a bump. If the fish is new, you’ll ant to observe it closely - it could be some mucus developing where a parasite is, but I really doubt it.Not too bad, I was gentle with him. Here is a better picture. What do you think?
