So, I’m just refilling my fish QT tank after having shut it down and bleaching it after treating a round of fish with uronema. I stupidly suction cupped the little glass thermometer that came with the tank onto dry glass and it fell down. I didn’t think anything of it and kept filling the tank. Now that I’ve got the heater on, I picked the thermometer off the bottom and looked at it and it is broken.
Some research shows that the liquid in a glass thermometer isn’t mercury anymore but rather just alcohol. Should I worry about this? I’m thinking that for the tiny little bit of alcohol it would contain, a little Carbon should get it. It shouldn’t be any worse than all the vodka risers out there right? Or should I break the tank down and wash and refill it again?
