One of my 20k mh radium bulbs broke today. The glass casing fell into my tank while the light actually continued to work. Even with the bulb still working, I'm still concerned that there might have been some chemicals that fell in with the glass casing. A few of my corals seem unhappy but I'm not sure if that's a result of a chemical getting into the tank. I just changed my carbon and am going to do a 25% water change tomorrow to play it safe but any other suggestions?

Was it a single or double ended bulb?

It was a single. I've got 2 MH's covering my 6 foot tank. It's strange...there's no polyp extension on my sps on the side of the tank where the bulb broke while everything seems normal and happy on the side that didn't break. Also, a few of my sps like the green slimer seem to have lost their color within hours.

The outter casing is the uv shield. If you aren’t running a glass shield on the reflector then you are causing really bad damage to the tank via harmful uv radiation.

I normally use the glass shield but as luck would have it I took it off over the weekend and forgot to put it back on.
