Broken Thermometer

I have a glass thermometer suction cup and it broke, are these little black balls mercury? What should I do? I managed to get rid of them from my substrate

the little balls are typically made of steel or lead. As long as you got them out of the tank (Should just need to run a magnet over the sand bed as they most likely are steel) and run carbon you should be good to go

Also, most recent thermometers use a colored alcohol instead of mercury.
