Backstory.
I've had this clown for like 3 months I think. No issues at all with him. Very lively.
Then, ~1week ago, I added a tiny clown, a black occelaris one, because I wanted a classic and a black one (I picked unfortunately, the smallest and he was a little thin, also - lesson learned - don't pick the smallest or the biggest) and they were ok. When I introduced the small one into the tank, the bigger one picked on him, because I think he thought he was food. But after 5 seconds, no issues at all. couple days later, I've bought from the LFS, a peppermint shrimp because I thought he will deal with the aiptasia I have.
Soon after, 1-2-3 day, the small clownfish showed weirdly behavior in the morning, swimming very fast (seemed like he struggled to swim in the same spot), he was breathing heavily and the back portion of his body, was slimy and covered with small white patches. He soon started to lose his tail, like it was getting nipped, until it was gone, the tail disappeared.
I thought he will make a comeback and regrow his tail, because he was pretty active and eating. Not as the same as in the first days, but eating, a bit. Found the little guy yesterday dead and in the same day, this one, started to show this behavior. Swimming in one spot, in the dark, very rapidly and he also seems to have white patches on his body. and a white line almost near his tail.
Ive found him sleeping over a palythoa green and I thought maybe the palythoa attacked him and gave him that line.
The biggest mistake here was not buying 2 from the start. 2nd mistake, not quarantining the smaller one and 3rd, adding the peppermint shrimp. I think either the smaller clownfish or the peppermint carried something and attacked the smaller clownfish.
At this moment, I dipped the clownfish that is still alive in Paraguard 3ml/4l as I thought it may be better than quarantining straight. If he is not looking better by tonight, I will setup a quarantine tank somehow.
