Hello all ! I want to know which is the rule of thumb for this elements.

I use a calcium reactor and a trident to keep measurements off all major components, but I dont test for this traces except when I do an ICP test every 6 - 8 months.

So I need to know wich is the rate consumption to keep them in check.

I would also like to know if there is reactor media that could include all minor elements like this one.

Thanks for all the help.

I don’t consider either to be important, but strontium will be exactly tied to calcium and alk consumption. Depending on what material you put in the reactor it might maintain strontium.

Bromide is likely mostly taken up by algae and related organisms. Depletion is fairly slow and there’s no way to gauge it except by measurement.

Great I will measure my consumption and add as needed.

Thanks Randy !

I don't think there is a clear rule but I would really not dose anything until you know your tank actually is low on that element. I don't do frequent waterchanges so dosing SR, Iron, Iodine, and if needed Nitrates is needed and it shows. I also do ICP test every 3-6 months and if I see an element is low I know I can either go up or down on my dosing. So far I've noticed aslong as there is a sufficient supply of those minor elements your corals will be just fine.

Well I did an icp test and they were really low. So I will perform water changes and dose from there...

DDoes anyone knows a reactor media that will have minor elements like this!?

TThanks for the help.

No media reactor for such elements. Alot of times waterchanges will keep up with SR elements but in a sps reef with high consumption I find its almost mandatory to dose not only SR but Iodine and Iron. Bromium I feel is not a factor and waterchanges should keep it at a fine range. To give you perspective I dose SR once per month about 30 ML of seachem SR, I dose 170ML or each 2part per day and have 120gallon water volume., I forgot the calculation but it brings it up about 2-3PPM. Use the calculator on BW bottle and figure out exactly how much ML is needed to raise a certain level. If you SR is 3 and you want it to go to 8. Dose enough to bring it up to 4. The following week dose enough to bring it to 5-6. Then just wait few week before dosing again.

Last month I dosed red sea bio active elements since some of those elements where low on a ICP test. after few weeks I noticed negative effects to my tank. I stopped dosing and 2 weeks later everything went back to normal. Since your doing ICP test your already on the right track but I would not stress it just find a good easy to follow product and use it slowly
