i have a small naso and small bristle tooth in QT right now. they have been in therapeutic copper (1.8 copper power) for 10 days now. On day 4-5 i noticed the naso has some skin that's kind of loose or peeling off. its actually looking a little better today. He's still active and eating but not as well as id like him to. I can literally only get him to eat frozen blood worms or live black worms. I feed them both like 10 times a day a few worms at a time and they do eat all of them most of the time but the naso is getting a little more picky past couple days....either way i'll attach some pics and let me know what you think. its the white patch on the top of its side.
thanks

I’m not sure if that’s brook but he looks very thin. Are you treating for internal parasites also? If not I would start ASAP, metro+Focus. You can also treat for brook with metro while in copper just aerate the tank heavily.

he's definitely thin. i started them on gc/focus but he wouldn't eat any medicated food so i stopped that just to try n fatten him up a bit. will medicated food soak into blood or black worms cause that's all hell eat.

^I agree, I would start soaking the frozen blood worms in metroplex (or better yet, General Cure) + focus AND dose the tank with metroplex ASAP. I highly suspect internal parasites and if it gets to the point where they refuse to eat altogether it's very hard to treat. The metroplex in the water will address brook, and could help with the internal parasites as well to help get him eating more to treat them internally. Both are fine with copper.

It would probably kill the live worms, but the focus is what binds it to foods.

ill try to feed em medicated food again...hopefully hell eat it this time

Yep, can try a little entice or garlic guard to make it more palatable.

2 scoops gc and 1 scoop focus to 1 spoonfuls of food..?

When I do mysis (frozen) I thaw it out (cube) then I spread it out and sprinkle one scoop Focus over it and let it sit for 5 min then I sprinkle 1-1/2 scoops of metro or GC and then a drop of Garlic guard to hide the taste of the meds.

great idea thanks..i just mix the focus and gc with goalie guard and selcon then defrost the food in it...i like the sprinkle method tho, that seems like it would work better.....thanks

neither one of em are excited about the medicated food...they kinda eat it but mainly just spit it out. the first bit i put in there they went phycho on it but they caught on after that lol maybe i gotta trick em, give em some medicated food then non medicated

That’s why I soak it in garlic guard.

for dosing metro to the tank do i follow the directions on the bottle or is there a different method folks are doing..?

For brook, you should dose every 48 hours (after a waterchange) for 10-14 days. I’d also use the higher dosage of 2 scoops per 10 gallons.

Little update here.
Today is day 15 of copper, I’m going to transfer them to a separate tank today.
The patch of skin I was concerned about on the naso is all healed up, the patch is still a little whitish but the skin isn’t flakey anymore. All I did was feed blood worms soaked in GC/Focus which neither fish was thrilled about but they did eat a few of the worms a couple times a day. The naso still won’t eat ANYTHING except blood worms that I’ve been soaking in selcon. The naso is still super skinny and I feed them a whole cube of blood worms every day and some mysis that the other tang eats. They both eat like they are starving. The square tail is a fat little guy btw. They both swim around a lot and seem very comfortable and despite the naso being skinny seem very healthy.
My next question is once I put them in the next tank should I give them a couple days with no meds (maybe the naso will get a bigger appetite and eat somthing other than blood worms) or should I go straight to dosing the water with GC and keep feeding GC/focus soaked food for the next 10 days.
Thanks

ahhhh another question. i know poly filter will absorb copper but will it absorb GC, Prazipro, Metro..?
