Lots going on here so I will try to keep this short.

Previously I had posted about my clown being lethargic and just hanging around at the bottom of the tank. At the time there was no other signs of an issue with her.
https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/lazy-clownfish-or-something-else.891088/

Over the last couple of days new symptoms have developed. She has gotten a slime like coat near her tail and I noticed white stringing poop.

The issue here is I do not want to treat incorrectly and cause more harm or miss the source of the problem.

What I have done:
  • I have been feeding garlic soaked pellets the last two days to try to eliminate parasites as that is what the poop seems to suggest.
  • On order are Formalin 37% and Metroplex - estimated delivery between Feb 11-15. I should have a better idea of the Formalin delivery this afternoon.
  • Copper and PraziPro are scheduled to arrive today

Behavioral Signs:
  • She is still eating like crazy and will swim around and then take breaks to lay back on the bottom like discussed in the previous post.
  • She is not breathing heavily or showing signs of struggling to breathe.
  • The other clown does not show any signs of illness.

Questions:
  • What is wrong with her?
  • What do I do next?
  • Do I also treat the other clown?
  • Do I need to remove snails and QT them?
  • What other signs or issues do I need to watch for?

Brook so formalin bath and into clean QT followed by metroplex treatment. The other will likely catch it too so treat both. A freshwater dip can provide temporary relief.

The garlic will not cure internal parasites.

Fallow (no fish) period 6 weeks.

But it is okay to leave snails and other cleaners in the tank for 6 weeks?

Any idea how an aqua cultured clown could get Brook? It was in the tank for like 2 weeks before it showed any signs of issues and those two were, and still are, the only fish in the tank.

Mixed in with other fish at LFS probably. Possibly from other wet stuff like cuc or corals but that’s unlikely but it could technically come in water droplets on those additions.

I called the LFS I got her from and they said their tanks are all connected for filtration but they still have others from the same clutch and none of them are showing any issues. I wonder if it is stress related due to a new powerhead I added to the tank and it will clear up.

The LFS also does a 2 week QT on all fish before putting them in the sales rack and with the fish being a long fin I know it has to be aqua cultured.
