So I went to the lfs a while back and there was a sale on firefish gobies ($8.99). There was a beautiful specimen there that I could not resist. At home I acclimated the fish to my tank (no Qt ☹️), and then released him in with my young ocellaris clownfish. The next day the firefish did not look well. It's eyes had become cloudy and was breathing rapidly, being inexperienced I chalked it up to stress. The next day the goby was dead and my clownfish had become dull in color. Clownfish began to breath rapidly and quickly passed leaving my tank fishless and my heart sad. Doing research it seems that I might have introduced brooklynella to my tank with the firefish goby. I can't be sure because I did not have a microscope to check. I learned my lesson on will qt from now on. I would also like to keep something on hand to to battle brook and other parasites. I know that formalin works for brook and was hoping someone could make a suggestion on good products to keep on hand to combat brook and other parasites. I would also like to know when I could again add fish to my tank. The clown died on June 24th and only coral and inverts have been in the tank since. Thank you in advance.

I'm so sorry you had to learn this lesson the hard way. That's never a good time. Congrats on deciding to go the QT route! That link for medications to keep on hand is a great one. You can even print it out to take to the LFS with you when you go shopping. I agree with leaving the tank fishless for 6 weeks to starve out the brook and provide a clean slate for any new fish. Here is another useful link from the stickies https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/how-to-quarantine.189815/
