can a clownfish have brook where the only symptoms are white spots that are gone in 4 or 5 days and then be fine? Only one of my clowns had this happen and then about 5 weeks later happen again.

That sounds more like crypto (marine ich).
that's what I thought too but I was told it looked like early stage Brook![]()
Brook tends to kill very fast. @Jay Hemdal could probably give you a solid answer with that picture.
Well my plan is to quarantine the 2 clowns for 76 days and treat with the trifecta (metro+kana+furan2) for 14 days then probably treat with copper just to kinda cover all bases while my dt is fallow for the 76 days.I would agree - Those spots are too diffuse to be ich. That does look like early stage Brook, but it usually doesn't just go away, and would have spread very quickly if not treated (and then, sometimes even IF treated!).
Sometimes fish develop "idiopathic mucus" - where white slimy spots just show up and then go away. I really don't know what the cause(s) are for this.
