New to saltwater. Tank has been cycling for 2.5 to 3 weeks and i think I’m seeing a brown algae or diatom bloom. I used live cured rock when I stated the tank. I would think this is normal? Some people say to leave the lights off for 3-4 days and cover the tank completely so no light gets in? I stopped in at my local saltwater fish store and they gave me a water conditioner and a bacteria boost.

Do I just need to let it run its cycle? Should I get some snails?

Thanks for all the input and help

First of all: how big is the tank? have you added any fish yet?
Depending on the size of the tank I would recommend a certain amount of crabs (hermits) and snails, maybe even an urchin or starfish. Hermit crabs are great all around, just make sure you have extra shells in the tank, or else when they grow too big for their shell they will either kill other crabs or snails. Urchin are great, but they can move around coral frags (which I dont think you have yet right?)
Also could we maybe get a picture of the tank/algae?

The tank is 13.5 gallon fluval evo. No fish yet and no coral frags

Mexican turbo snails do a great job on that algae. The algae is part of the process.
