I have a tank going on 2 mo old. Amonia and nitrites testing 0 as with nitrates 0-5. Last few days I have started to get an algae bloom that looked like your typical brown algae but recently has been developing some areas that look fluid filled / bubbles. Pics attached. Any ideas in helping figure out what exactly this is? Second picture shows an example of a larger bubble. thanks.

Dinos...part of the ugly stage of new tanks

I'll try to blackout for a few days and see if I get anywhere. I was hoping they were not as I haven't noticed any long stringy appearance from anything as they are described a lot.

Out of curiosity why are you trying to avoid them ?

The tank currently has 2 clowns and a cleaner shrimp. From what I've read dinos + anything else in the tank don't get along.

It's looks more like diatoms than dinos ..but it's normal phase of starting ..have you got a clean up crew..?
They are coming soon. Can diatoms produce similar bubbles / pockets of air on the rock? Sand bed definitely has some brown algae but nothing that looks like dinos there.

It's a new tank that's just cycled , and looking from the rocks you started with dry rocks ...2 months (8 weeks) for a new tank is nothing ...it's just starting ..diatoms ...green hair algae....diatoms are normally a dusting ...and a light brownish yellowish colour ..with a tank so young and in the cycle it's highly unlikely to be dinos ..that's it too say it can't or hasn't happened ....but normally there's so much going on in a new tank it doesn't get chance too take over ...
My tank has dinos and looks like this
