Hello all...was looking for your opinion on a newer 75g reef tank. Just getting the brown algea on the rocks but now it's spreading to the sand and glass. What are your thoughts on some algea eaters....I have a sally crab, 2x bumble bees, chocolate chip star and a big cowrie tiger snail.

Banded Trochus are awesome, and a few turbos, but there are many options. Nassarius are good sand cleaners as well.
Thank you for the quick response, I should have asked on the qyt...?

Depends... i'd start with a dozen Trochus, and 2 or 3 Turbos. You can clean your sand by various means, Nassarius - a dozen. Your cowrie tiger snail probably won't do much for the sand bed. You could get a lawn mower blenny. I have a florida fighting conch, its around 5 inches and does a great job in my sand bed. You could also get a few hermits. Just a reminder, chocolate chip starfish aren't reef safe :-)

Great info, and I'll keep an eye on the CC startfish....(I didn't even think to research him, he looks harmless lol)

haha yea they're cool dudes, but they aren't safe with coral, theyll mow through them. You could swap him out for a sand sifting star fish, its a win win, you get to keep a star fish and it's a natural sand cleaner.
