If you used tap water and not ro water your phosphates maybe high. Cut the lights and do some water changes and test it should clear it up

Looks like diatoms to me. They feed on silicates in the water. Do water changes with ro water and you could also do a black out in the tank. Turn off your lights and starve it out of existence.

The post above is good.

Your tank is new. The brown algae is new and will eventually phase out as the tank matures.

Xtalreef - Reef Saltwater Aquarium One of my favorite places to go when I was first learning and still learning. Diatoms occur with most new tanks and within about two weeks should be replaced with other types of algae. RO/DI water for mixing salt and topping off with fresh water should naturally get rid of it without any extra effort. It appears you're still cycling your tank so nothing to worry about.

thanks for the link, very informative

Just get a clean up crew. Or you could just get something like a turkey baster and just blow it off. But eventually should go away.

New tank syndrome. Do nothing and it will go away on its own:)
+1
The best option here is just to leave it alone. It's a new tank that's cycling. Most of the time when you try to fix a non-existent problem.....it gets worse.

Watch this video
Nano Lagoon (14): BIG Diatom Bloom - YouTubend if you like it just watch the whole "Nano Lagoon" series.....I really enjoyed it and it's what my 10g is based off now.
