Ok, my tank is 3 weeks old now. Everything is go good , except for the brown algae starting to grow. It is in sand and on the rocks. I have looked on the internet it to me it appears to be diatoms. Here is my question, i have not done a water change, should i wait till after the diatoms stop or what? All my water chem is good, i think. my ph 8.3, ammonia 0 to .25, nitrite 0, nitrate 20 to 30. Any information would be great. thanks in advance.

Diatoms feed off of Silicates, once they've eaten all the silicates out of the tank, they will die off. No need to be concerned about them or do anything special to get rid of them. Its totally natural in a new tank for this to happen.
