Hey guys my tank is about 6 weeks old and I've had a CUC in there for a week and 2 clowns since Sunday. I've noticed this brown algae growing on the rocks and sand is this a good thing or a bad thing? My CUC consists of 1 peppermint shrimp, 10 red tip hermits and 24 turbo snails.

Still having a Diatom Bloom. It will go away when they've eaten all the silicates out of the water.

It is hard to say without knowing your tank size. I personally prefer less hermits and more snails. If you do decide to add more hermits make sure you have some empty shells in your tank or they will kill snails or each other for shells.
awesome thank you! Would you recommend a dozen more hermits?

If yout talking just to take care of the Diatoms, no, it will go away by itself, won't take long.
I don't usually advise anyone to use hermits, as they are scavengers, and if there is no food around they tend to eat the corals.
