My tank is giving me brown algae problems now for a month. I have a fairly large CUC for the size but I just can't seem to stop it. Never had nitrites measured in the month, nitrates stay between 10-20. Water changes every week. What should I be testing and monitoring to combat that? I keep the temp at 75, which in past tanks I only had algae problems at higher temps. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Diatoms? New tank? Nothing to do, they will go away by themselves. Not to worry.

I'm not worried, it's just been going on for awhile now. I've not had it last this long before.

It can last a few months. Depends on how much silicate is left over in the tank for them to eat.
