I build massive threads about that concept it's just my nerd opinion lol but at least we got pics
literally it means that algae care is circular, it has cycles of more and less work based on minor changes we do to the aquarium. Algae care is not about some lucky combo of perfect nutrients and no algae growth, although that's a fine balance to drive for and some get.
I'm always expecting to be wiping something... or possibly catching a tuft of algae the size of a pinhead and then killing it out, so it can't takeover. I literally guide my tank algae free all the time because I'm willing to repeat kills necessary to stop algae without taking a chance, others take a more chill natural mode. The only method I'll accept is pure exclusion of chance.
So when I changed to kessil from power compact lighting from the 90s just one month ago, this brown algae showed up having changed nothing else. It was just another rascal I wiped out along with my weekly water changes and guiding sessions. When I remove a bunch of waste each week, feed heavily just before my big water change so corals get a boost + clean water, and wipe off various slicks I'm literally forcing my reef to run my way. I'll directly kill any algae or wipe it off, always.
