Hello,

Been out of the hobby for a while and I am just getting back in.

I just completed my tank cycle last week after about 3 weeks, using ATM Colony Marine.

I have some brown algae going on, but it seems to go away overnight. In the morning the sand will be pretty much clear of algae but by then end of the day it is covered. The next morning it will be clear and then covered again by the end of the day.

Is this normally what brown algae is like?

The brown algae in the sand are diatoms. Totally normal and will go away in time. Part of the “ugly stage” of cycling. Dealing with the same thing now

I had an outbreak of this algae just after my tank cycled. I added seachem phosguard to my filter media and about 10 trochus snails and it dissappeared after a week. The trochus snails effectively plough the sand

Thank you, I was actually debating on that. Even had it in my Amazon cart. Glad to hear it helped.
